What Is Sustainability?

Simply stated, sustainability is meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

It is an emphasis on the future rather than the present. It is a shift in operating practices to consider ecological and social issues along with resources and budget. It is a way of life. It is a shift to see the world from a different perspective - one that ensures long-term economic benefits while preserving the environment.

The departments in Business and Administrative Services (BAS) are in support of Administration's Initiative to Develop Programs to Support Sustainability.
