CalShare

What is CalShare? CalShare was formerly known as BearShare. BearShare was the name that was used by IS&T for Microsoft Share Point software. With the implementation of an upgrade to Share Point, IS&T rebranded BearShare to CalShare. CalShare is a web site that provides a central storage and structured collaboration space for documents, information, and ideas.CalShare Screenshot

What are the benefits of using CalShare? The benefits of using CalShare include, among others: increased accessibility to documents and information, reduced emailing of templates and collaborative documents, reduced administrative time spent on cutting and pasting document content to consolidate information, increased version control, two way communication as users can add information to the site.

How secure is the information I add to CalShare? CalShare servers are all located in UC Berkeley's new state of the art Data Center which offers several layers of physical security. Site Administrators have several ways of securing their site(s) and data on CalShare. Site Administrators can add individual user's, create Security Groups within CalShare and even leverage Groups that may have already been created in CalnetAD.
